Abita Mardi Gras on the Island Parade 2014

Watch the first 2014 Mardi Gras parade on the Emerald Coast as the Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce presents this year's Abita Mardi Gras Parade on Okaloosa Island in Fort Walton Beach, Florida on January 18, 2014.

The parade kicked off around 11am on a beautiful sunny Emerald Coast day!

Ron Grissom, the 2014 Chairman of the Board for the Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce was the Grand Marshall of this year's parade.

The Okaloosa Island Leaseholders Association's float theme was"Welcome to Our Neighborhood", in which we were glad to be here for this parade.

The Fort Walton Beach Mardi Gras Club, and their queen, Queen Donna, had everyone dancing in the streets.

The mermaids of the Nauti Girls restaurant were soaking in the sun and waving to the crowds.

The Navarre Krewe of Jesters once again show the crowds that they know how to have a good time.

Chris Sehman's Helen Back float not only bombarded the reviewing stand with a "float-load" of beads, but were also seen trying to bribe the judges with delicious Helen Back pizzas.  Considering that Helen Back hosted the block party following the parade, I think we can let them slide.  : )

And of course, no parade in Fort Walton Beach would be complete without our own Krewe of Bowlegs and their Blackhawk boat bringing up the rear to end the parade.
